A Mother’s Journey

A strong mother of two daughters who turned resilience into a roadmap, overcoming addiction, building a stable home, and securing meaningful work, proving that strength isn’t just surviving the storm, but rebuilding a life that shines after it.

Leagh’s journey with the Gregg House has been one of quiet strength, growth, and deep love for her children. She first came to our Infant/Toddler Center when her daughter, Mia, was referred through DCF in August 2022 while Leagh was living at Project COPE. Mia enrolled at 4 months old in September 2022.

Through steady determination and hard work, Leagh continued to move forward and grow toward her goals. Her dedication and commitment to her family were reflected in many milestones along the way, including the closing of her DCF case in September 2023 and her transition to The Lotus House, where she continued building stability and strength for her family’s future. In October 2024, she welcomed her daughter Ariya, who is now enrolled with us under an income-eligible contract. Mia has since transitioned to Gregg House Preschool.

Leagh is warm, funny, laid back, and deeply devoted to her girls. She is currently working at Lahey Cardiology in Beverly, a job she truly loves. Although her schedule is demanding, she has shared how important it is to her that her daughters remain in a place they know and trust. She did not want them to experience additional transitions, and feels strongly that the Gregg House provides the consistency, safety, and support her family needs. “Gregg House has truly been an amazing support system for my family & me. They have watched me grow from a beaten down struggling mom to a flourishing successful mother. They treat my children & I like family & I am not sure we would be where we are without their love & support!” She expresses feeling secure and supported while her girls are in school, allowing her to focus on work and stability, even with a daily commute that has her leaving home around 6:00 AM and returning around 6:00 PM.

She continues to maintain her sobriety while balancing work, parenting, and family life with steady support from her significant other, Terrance, who is also working hard toward positive change and is a caring and present father.

Leagh and Terrance are both very engaged in their children’s education, consistently attending parent-teacher conferences and participating in family engagement events, showing how much they value being active partners in their daughters’ learning and development.

Both of her daughters are thriving, full of personality, curiosity, and spirit. It has been a true joy and privilege to walk alongside this family and witness their journey filled with resilience, hope, and so much heart.
